Project Challenge
Microfinance Ireland supports entrepreneurs and small businesses across Ireland with access to government-backed loans. But their website wasn’t doing the same for them.
The previous platform had a confusing user experience, making it difficult for users to find key information or navigate the loan application process. Internally, the CMS was rigid and outdated — limiting how content could be managed, laid out, or updated. To make things more complex, multiple application forms were hosted externally via a third-party CRM system, requiring users to jump off-site mid-journey. The disconnect created friction and made it harder for MFI to own and manage the end-to-end experience.
They needed a website that worked as well as their service does: clear, supportive, accessible, and built for people who are trying to move forward.
The Solution
We designed and developed a new website for Microfinance Ireland with a clear goal: give users clarity and give the internal team control.
Built on a flexible, Gutenberg-based CMS, the new site gives MFI’s team complete freedom to manage layouts, create new pages, and edit content without developer input. We created a suite of custom blocks and modular components tailored to their communication needs — from loan guides and FAQs to application steps and testimonials.
On the user side, we restructured the entire navigation and site architecture to guide people through the loan process with ease. Clear entry points, simplified language, and consistent layouts support users at every stage — whether they’re just exploring or ready to apply.
Critically, we also worked with MFI’s CRM team to integrate forms more directly into the site experience. Instead of external links that disrupt the journey, forms now load within the site, preserving flow, trust, and user focus. The site is fully responsive, accessible, and optimised for speed — built to support applicants wherever they are, on any device.
The Results
The new Microfinance Ireland website delivers both impact and independence. Internally, the content team now works with a CMS that gives them full flexibility and control — from campaign landing pages to structural updates — all without needing development time. The custom Gutenberg blocks allow for easy content re-use, faster page builds, and clearer storytelling across the site.
Externally, users now experience a clearer, more cohesive journey. The site is simpler to navigate, with fewer drop-offs and less friction in the application process. The direct CRM integration keeps users engaged on-site, resulting in better continuity and a stronger sense of trust.
Performance and accessibility were also significantly improved, with faster load times, consistent mobile UX, and a structure that supports future updates as MFI’s services evolve.
The new platform is not just a website — it’s a tool for growth, built to support the organisation’s mission and the entrepreneurs it serves.
